The site now known as Waterside View off Waterside Road in the Broadsands area of Paignton is noted as an Urban Landscape Protection Area with the Torbay Local Plan. The challenge to obtain Planning Approval for three dwellings meant that the designs had to be of the highest standard. The three houses which form the development are all set within the existing hillside, they are clad in mainly natural materials, stone, cedar boarding and have sedum roof coverings. The three dwellings use the same simple palette of materials and have many similarities but are all uniquely designed for their very individual owners. No 3 Waterside View is the most recently completed of the three dwellings, it is a three-bedroom dwelling arranged over two levels wrapped around the central white rendered core which accommodates the master bedroom suite, living room and study. The building was built with very high levels of insulation, has an air source heat pump delivering hot water and underfloor heating throughout. The sedum roofing provides a naturally attenuated surface water system. Many of the internal fixtures were hand-built by the owner.
